In this review, we’ll be looking at the Teton Sports Trailhead sleeping bag.
Finally, a mummy bag designed for comfort and weight reduction. Longer and wider than most mummy bags, the TETON Sports TrailHead +20°F has a soft, breathable liner and an extended foot box with room for toes. Unzip from top or bottom with both interior and exterior zipper pulls so when mummy hood is cinched, you can still close the bag all the way. Safety Velcro tab to make sure bag stays closed. Zippers are fully taped with an anti-snag design; made from engineered acetal resin designed for extreme temperature and pressure, so they’re light-weight but still durable. Soft, interior zip pocket for wallet or keys plus zipper draft tube and shoulder baffle. Includes 13.5” x 6.75” drawstring stuff sack.

The first thing that really stands out about the Teton Sports Trailhead is that it weighs just 2.9 lbs, making it the second lightest bag from Teton Sports after the Journey, which weighs 2.3 lbs but is a 40+ degree rated bag. The Trailhead is a 20+ degree rated bag, meaning you really should only use this in temperatures above 30-40 degrees in order to be comfortable (you really want a bag rated for 20 degrees colder than it will be in order to be comfortable).
At 87 inches long, this bag is decent size and should fit a wide range of people. The bag comes with a nice carry bag and packs up pretty tight. You could legitimately use this for backpacking in warmer temps.
The material quality and the construction are both really good. I don’t see any lose stitching or areas that seem like they’ll be problematic. The inner material is a bit softer than some other lightweight bags, making the bag pretty comfortable. The mummy hood is comfortable, even when closed.
I’m really liking these Teton Sports products lately. In my Teton Sports Talus 44 review, I gave that backpack a 9/10. This product is likewise high quality for a reasonable price. With this particular sleeping bag, the one semi issue I have is I just don’t like the colors that much. It is either lime green with grey or pale orange with grey. Obviously, some people probably will really like those color schemes.
I’m giving the Teton Sports Trailhead an 8.9 out of 10. This would be a good option for summer backpackers looking for a quality sleeping bag on a budget.
