Mountain Hardwear Lamina 0 BagIn this review, we will be looking at the Mountain Hardwear Lamina 0 Sleeping Bag (ad).

Description

This mummy cut bag from Mountain Hardwear has lamina construction to eliminate cold spots. The bag is rated for zero degrees Fahrenheit, so it will keep you alive if the temperature is above zero degrees, although you may still feel cold and ideal use temperature would be above ten degrees. People using the bag at twenty degrees and warmer have been hot.

The bag is quite heavy with a shipping weight of 5.2 lbs. I think that makes it way too heavy to use for backpacking or hiking. As mentioned, it is a warm bag though and I think a lot of car campers would love this bag. The weight of it makes it feel more snug than some lightweight bags.

The bag has a durable, lightweight nylon shell that is treated with DWR to repel water. The polyester lining is also moisture repellent. Moisture is a big problem when winter camping as any snow near your body ends up being transferred into moisture, and snow in the tent can make everything moist. Having the bag be moisture repellent is a necessity that almost all winter bags now have.

A full length #8 zippers provide versatile ventilation. There is a comfort footbox so your feet have enough room to move and aren’t smushed like with some bags. The face gasket and hood will keep your head warm. There also is a zippered pocket at the shoulders for additional storage.

Pros

Low price for a quality bag.

The long is 84 inches, or 7 feet, which means this bag would be good for tall people.

Roomy, comfortable, warm, moisture resistant.

There is also a -15 degree rated bag, the Mountain Hardwear Lamina -15 Sleeping Bag (ad).

Cons

The weight makes this bag bad for backpacking or hiking. Still would be excellent for car camping though.

Made in China, although it really is quite a good bag. I would prefer American made though.

Overall

I think the Mountain Hardwear Lamina 0 Sleeping Bag (ad) is worth considering for people who will be car camping (driving to a camping spot) or won’t be travelling far, and also for people on a budget that need a cold weather bag. For hikers and backpackers, there are better options at this price range.
